Forging Our Path to a Stronger Manitoba Manitoba Stronger Together's Policy Platform for the 2023 Provincial Election
14. Empowering Citizen-Led Communities - Reclaiming Personal Freedom & Responsibility Manitoba Stronger Together believes that the heart of a strong and vibrant community lies in the empowerment of its citizens.
We recognize the growing concerns about government overreach into personal lives, belief systems, and community affairs. Our policy aims to restore the power and responsibility to the people by creating citizen-led, citizen-funded, and citizen-operated communities, free from unnecessary government interference.
Strengthening Community Participation: We will prioritize community involvement and participation by promoting the active engagement of citizens in decision-making processes. We will establish platforms for regular town hall meetings where citizens can voice their concerns, ideas, and aspirations. By fostering open dialogue we will ensure that the people are at the centre of community development.
Supporting Private and Community-Led Initiatives: Manitoba Stronger Together recognizes the value of private community groups and their historical role in community life. We will provide support and incentives for these groups to thrive and take a lead role in addressing local challenges. Additionally, we will encourage the revival of long-standing traditions of neighbour helping neighbour, thereby creating a strong sense of camaraderie and unity within our communities.
Protecting Personal Liberties: We believe that individual freedoms, including beliefs, religion, and family choices, must be respected and protected. Our policy will work to ensure that government intervention in personal matters is minimized, allowing citizens to make their own decisions without undue influence.
Defending Parental Rights: Manitoba Stronger Together will advocate for the preservation of parental rights and the freedom to make informed decisions about their child's upbringing and education. We will oppose any attempts to infringe upon these fundamental rights and work to create a transparent and inclusive education system that respects the diverse values of our communities.
Citizen-Centred Funding: Our policy platform advocates for increased citizen involvement in community funding decisions. We will explore innovative funding models that allow citizens to allocate resources based on their priorities and needs, giving them greater control over the allocation of community resources.
Minimizing Bureaucratic Interference: We will undertake a comprehensive review of existing regulations and policies to identify and eliminate bureaucratic red tape that hinders citizen-led initiatives. Our goal is to create a more agile and responsive governance structure that supports community-driven projects and ideas.
Promoting Independence: Manitoba Stronger Together believes that communities should be self-reliant and not unduly dependent on government assistance. We will promote entrepreneurship, local businesses, and job opportunities to create economically vibrant and self-sustaining communities.
By implementing these policies, Manitoba Stronger Together will foster a culture of personal freedom, community empowerment, and citizen-driven initiatives.
We aim to restore the power to the people, allowing them to shape their communities according to their values, aspirations, and needs, free from unnecessary government intrusion. Together we will build strong, independent, and resilient communities that celebrate diversity, promote personal liberties, and provide a nurturing environment for all Manitobans.
