11. Responsible Taxation in Manitoba At Manitoba Stronger Together we believe in responsible taxation that is fair, transparent, and reflective of the services received by residents.

Our policy aims to review and reform the provincial taxation system, including provincial sales tax, property taxes, and education taxes. We advocate for a taxation system that promotes equality, addresses regional disparities, and ensures that citizens pay for the services they receive based on their actual usage.

Policy Objectives:

  1. Reform of Provincial Taxation System: We will conduct a thorough review of the provincial taxation system to identify areas for improvement and ensure that the tax burden is distributed fairly among residents.

  2. Equality in Taxation Levels: Taxation levels will be based on the services offered and received by residents. We will ensure that individuals and businesses pay taxes proportionate to the benefits they derive from public services.

  3. Separation of School Taxes: School taxes will no longer be assessed and paid along with property taxes. This will address disparities in education funding and prevent rural and remote areas from being at a disadvantage. Additionally, citizens with vacation homes will no longer be subject to paying double their fair share.

  4. Transparent Taxation System: Our policy advocates for a transparent taxation system that is easy for citizens to understand and ensures accountability in tax collection and allocation.

  5. Addressing Regional Disparities: We will take measures to address regional disparities in taxation and ensure that communities with varying needs and resources are treated fairly.

  6. Promoting Economic Growth: Responsible taxation will promote economic growth and encourage businesses to invest in Manitoba. In this way we will foster job creation and prosperity in the province.

  7. Engagement and Consultation: We will engage in consultation with citizens, businesses, and stakeholders to gather feedback and input on taxation reforms thereby ensuring that policy reflects the needs and priorities of Manitobans.

Conclusion:

Our Manitoba Stronger Together policy on responsible taxation aims to create a fair, transparent, and equitable taxation system in the province.
