12. Roads, Highways and Infrastructure Renewal In this comprehensive plan, we address the critical importance of safe, well-maintained roadways and infrastructure that withstand the challenges posed by Manitoba's harsh climate extremes.

Manitoba has a vast landscape which is often unpredictable with dramatic temperature fluctuations. Our climate presents a demand for strategic and responsible solutions to optimize the limited funds, while prioritizing the safety and well being of Manitobans.

With a focus on renewal, safety, and innovation, we seek to forge new paths to address age-old challenges and ensure a more connected, resilient, and prosperous Manitoba.

Safety is our utmost priority when it comes to our roads, highways, and infrastructure. As we recognize the importance of reliable transportation systems to daily life, commerce, and emergency services, we will work tirelessly to ensure our roadways are safe and well- maintained.

Our policies will incorporate innovative engineering practices, traffic calming measures, and pedestrian-friendly designs to reduce accidents and protect the lives of all road users. With an emphasis on safety, we strive to create an environment where families, workers, and travellers feel secure on our roads no matter the weather conditions.

Manitoba's climate extremes pose unique challenges for our infrastructure this leads to wear and tear that necessitates frequent renewal. We acknowledge the financial constraints we face but will leverage available funds strategically to maximize the renewal and safety of our roads and infrastructure. By prioritizing essential projects, streamlining processes, and exploring innovative technologies, we aim to optimize the efficiency of our limited resources and enhance the longevity of our investments. Through effective planning and strategic spending, we will ensure that every dollar is dedicated to the improvement of our infrastructure thereby contributing to a more resilient Manitoba.

In the face of old problems we embrace new solutions. Manitoba Stronger Together is committed to seeking innovative approaches and technologies to address the challenges that have long plagued our infrastructure. We understand that forward-thinking strategies are crucial to tackling climate-related issues, optimizing maintenance efforts, and creating responsible infrastructure that can withstand the test of time.

With a collaborative and community-centred approach, we will engage stakeholders, experts, and local communities to find creative solutions that improve connectivity, support economic growth, and enhance the overall safety and quality of life for all Manitobans. Together we will forge a path towards a stronger and more prosperous Manitoba.

Policy Objectives:

Enhanced Regional Collaboration: Foster collaboration among regional municipalities, provincial government, and federal agencies to share resources, knowledge, and expertise for more effective infrastructure development and maintenance. Implement a transparent and cooperative approach to ensure that resources are allocated efficiently.

  5. Incorporate Responsible Practices: Emphasize environmentally responsible infrastructure development by incorporating responsible materials and construction practices wherever possible. Aim to reduce the environmental impact of our roadways and infrastructure while increasing their longevity.

  6. Innovative Technologies and Engineering: Embrace innovative technologies and engineering practices to create resilient and durable roadways and infrastructure. Explore the use of innovative infrastructure solutions to improve safety, traffic flow, and maintenance efficiency.

  7. Focus on Safety: Prioritize road safety improvements and initiatives, including the implementation of measures such as traffic calming measures, pedestrian-friendly infrastructure, and better signage to reduce accidents and enhance road user safety.

  8. Engagement with Local Communities: Engage with local communities and stakeholders to gather feedback and understand the unique needs and challenges of different regions. Encourage public participation in decision-making processes to ensure infrastructure projects align with the priorities and values of the people they serve.

  9. Streamlined Permitting and Approval Process: Streamline the permitting and approval process for infrastructure projects to expedite implementation while maintaining necessary environmental and safety standards.
